A slight breeze brisked past the trees. Causing the leaves to rustle. The sun shone overhead, glaring down at the city. The temperature in the city during the summer was extreme but one could get used to it. Maybe. A prize in this city is knowing where water is. Thats one thing I didn't know.

My tri colored pelt glided easily across the ground. My white toed paws kissed the ground as I moved forward. My ears pricked forward listening for any sign of noise. While my ice blue eyes scanned for any sign of movement.

The only reason I was here was because I chased that damn squirrel under the city wall. I didn't even catch it. Pity really. I caught food before but they were mostly sick animals. Plus I wasn't even taught how to hunt and I was fed by humans so why would I want to learn to hunt? I stopped padding while my stomach growled. Cursing myself for being pitiful. I shook my head. Then it accrued to me. I could chase rabbits! With that thought I raced away. Just before I decided to leap over a bush came a rabbit. I crashed into it and held it down with a paw.

Sweet victory! Okay it was an unexpected victory but hey at least I finally got a meal. I plopped down beside the rabbit and tore into it. Spitting out all the fur that plastered itself to my tongue hiding the taste of rabbit meat. Once I got all the fur off I began eating. Chewing with every mouthful I took. Savoring the taste. I ate everything except the fur.

Giving myself a licking to get rid of the blood that clung to my paws and muzzle. My mum told me it was a "no-no" to keep blood on your face and paws. As strange as it was I did somewhat believe that she was right. Though I would never go back to their life on the ranch. It wasn't me. I hoped they understood.

I wanted to belong to something. The life my parents had wasn't meant for me. Being free with out being called in to watch the cattle while the humans slept wasn't me, or what I wanted to do with my life. When I came here I felt new and at home. Weird feeling for me anyways. My hopes was to be accepted into a pack. Become well known and feared and then have pups. I wanted to be a big shot and hopefully when I get enough experience become alpha like. That would be a long way off.

I sighed and pushed myself to all fours and padded onward. A new scent tickled my nose and I stopped. The smell was close, I began searching for the canine that the smell was coming from.

"Hello?" I asked tipping my head to the side. My long furred coat glistened in the sun light showing how well groomed it was. Even for a stray as humans called it. I preferred the term wild dog rather than stray. Strays in my mind lived with humans and picking out of garbage cans for food. Us wild dogs hunt and fight for our food. Though I am still new to this whole wild dog thing I couldn't bare to call myself a stray let alone a pampered pet because I wasn't either of those. No body will ever call me those things. EVER!!!

Koda had caught the scent of a new female on the Skeleton Pack's territory long before the dog even had knowledge of him being there. He was learning a lot from both Zaira and Dangle and anyone else that would teach him something. He was always wanting to learn anything and everything he could. How else could one plan on being one of the best Skeleton Pack dogs if you didn't gain any knowledge avaliable to you.
Light blue eyes watched the female and he slunk from boat to boat, before finally reaching the shore. There, the female had just finished eating a rabbit and Koda was almost close enough to the female for his liking but a breeze changed directions on him and brought his scent to her nostrils because she raised her head and called out, her ice blue eyes searching to find the source of the smell. It was to late now though, he was close enough. Leaping out from behind the bushes he had been hiding behind, he easily cleared the thistly shrub and landed in front of her, only a foot or so between them. He immediately lowered his body to the ground and bared his teeth, a soft growl starting to work it's way up into his throat. He was hoping that he could show Dangle that he was ready to be moved to a higher rank such as guard. And if he brought back a prisoner he might have better luck at achieving his goal.
"What are you doing here? You are trespassing on Skeleton Pack territory." He snapped, the fur on his shoulders bristling as he waited to see what she would say.

I leaped backward totally shocked by his rough appearance. He snarled at me. His wolf like fur bristled making him look scary. I lifted my lips in a snarl as well. "Thats hardly away to talk to an almost member. Nova told me to learn the land." I retorted looking him over. He was taller than I was but his tooth size showed he was the same age as I. I pushed my rump to the ground as my front paws held my chest erect. My long flowing fur ruffled slightly as another breeze swept through. I was told be some other canines that I looked like a mini Nova.

I starred at him waiting for a response. I got bored with waiting and took to talking, "I'm Asteriah or Aste for short though Nova calls me Riah. She is training me the ways of the Skeleton pack. Who are you?" I asked looking at his wolf like appearance. I opened my maw to let my salmon pink tongue rest on my lower canines in the canine pant. My blue eyes locked onto his blue eyes. He was intimidating to me slightly but Nova taught me not to show nothing through my eyes. I clouded my eyes with nothingness. I waited patiently for his answer this time. Curiosity why do you like me?

Koda kept his eyes narrowed at the newcomer but when she explained herself, he leaned back so he too was sitting. His light blue eyes looked her over for a moment and he was about to accuse her of lying since he hadn't seen her at the pack meeting but then he caught the familiar scent of Nova, the alpha female of the Skeleton Pack on this new female's pelt and he knew she was telling the truth. Relaxing, Koda let his fur let flat and let the snarl slip from his face before his eyes lost their fierceness.
Tilting his head to one side as he had the habit of doing, he looked down at the smaller dog. She was probably his age but her breed made her a little smaller than himself.
"Sorry, I'm being trained by Dangle, the alpha male of the Skeleton Pack and I am making sure no trespassers are on Skeleton Pack territory." he replied, holding his head high and puffing out his chest with pride.
He was hoping to show Dangle that he was a good addition to the pack by bringing back a prisoner but if he brought back another member of the Skeleton Pack as a prisoner, he would probably just get laughed at.
"I'm Kodiak by the way, but you can call me Koda. Everyone does." he added, smiling broadly at her.
He figured since she had introduced herself he should probably do the same. After all, he didn't want to be rude or anything. It would be nice having another pup his age in the Pack. Even though Dangle and Nova were expecting pups, he wouldn't be able to play with them until they were big enough so in the meantime he hoped him and Asteriah could become friends. After all, they did have a lot in common.
