A slight breeze brisked past the trees. Causing the leaves to rustle. The sun shone overhead, glaring down at the city. The temperature in the city during the summer was extreme but one could get used to it. Maybe. A prize in this city is knowing where water is. Thats one thing I didn't know.

My tri colored pelt glided easily across the ground. My white toed paws kissed the ground as I moved forward. My ears pricked forward listening for any sign of noise. While my ice blue eyes scanned for any sign of movement.

The only reason I was here was because I chased that damn squirrel under the city wall. I didn't even catch it. Pity really. I caught food before but they were mostly sick animals. Plus I wasn't even taught how to hunt and I was fed by humans so why would I want to learn to hunt? I stopped padding while my stomach growled. Cursing myself for being pitiful. I shook my head. Then it accrued to me. I could chase rabbits! With that thought I raced away. Just before I decided to leap over a bush came a rabbit. I crashed into it and held it down with a paw.

Sweet victory! Okay it was an unexpected victory but hey at least I finally got a meal. I plopped down beside the rabbit and tore into it. Spitting out all the fur that plastered itself to my tongue hiding the taste of rabbit meat. Once I got all the fur off I began eating. Chewing with every mouthful I took. Savoring the taste. I ate everything except the fur.

Giving myself a licking to get rid of the blood that clung to my paws and muzzle. My mum told me it was a "no-no" to keep blood on your face and paws. As strange as it was I did somewhat believe that she was right. Though I would never go back to their life on the ranch. It wasn't me. I hoped they understood.

I wanted to belong to something. The life my parents had wasn't meant for me. Being free with out being called in to watch the cattle while the humans slept wasn't me, or what I wanted to do with my life. When I came here I felt new and at home. Weird feeling for me anyways. My hopes was to be accepted into a pack. Become well known and feared and then have pups. I wanted to be a big shot and hopefully when I get enough experience become alpha like. That would be a long way off.

I sighed and pushed myself to all fours and padded onward. A new scent tickled my nose and I stopped. The smell was close, I began searching for the canine that the smell was coming from.

CRUNCH...CRUNCH...CRUNCH!!!

I jumped and spun around. I hide my trembling well as the other canine stayed hidden. I hope they come out soon, I thought to myself. Waiting patently for it to come out.[/color]

[atrb=background,http://i834.photobucket.com/albums/zz262/xmissnovax/body.png] the wind was blowing towards me, concealing my scent from the one i was observing ever so quietly. i was silently watching the mini-me from the bushes that hid me. i watched her as she tired to catch a squirrel, but failed. if she was going faster, and cut the corner before it could go under that wall, she would have has it. i smirked, knowing it was time for me to help her become a wild dog. from the way she walked and smelled, i realized she had come from a similar place i did- a farm. the slightest hint of farm animals wafted from her coat, and was shoved into my nostrils. i hadn't smelt the smell of a farm in over a year. i'm glad i left where i came; it was a living bloody hell. i saw her come towards the bush i was crouching beneath, the wind still blowing towards me, when a rabbit sped out from beneath the bush next to mine. a silent sigh escaped my maw, and i was happy she didn't discover me yet, thinking i was stalking her or something... i just wanted to observe her, to give her a proper ranking in the pack, and to maybe teach her the brutality of living in the wild, coming from being a 'pet'. by the luck of chance, she managed to catch the speeding rabbit, and i smiled. sometimes hunting was by chance, and this time she got lucky. i watched her enjoy her meal, when the wind changed. shit. i knew i was going to be discovered now. blood was all over her muzzle, concealing my scent for now, but when she cleaned it off, as she was doing so now, she would smell my scent. she lifted her head in alarm when her maw was clean, knowing she had found me. i stood quietly, and padded out into the open, with a smile of my face. great catch. then my face turned serious. i wasn't going to go extremely hard on her if i taught her, but i was going to be a bit harsh. but you only caught it by chance. that doesn't happen very often, you know. and you could have caught that squirrel if you would have moved a bit faster, and cut corners. my expression softened, as i spoke again. i felt like she was anticipating me asking her this, and i faintly smiled ever so slightly. would you like me to teach you the ways of this brutal life i live? i stood before her, waiting for a reply. my ice blue eyes scanning her body, to see how much muscle she had. not very much... i noted mentally. but that will change, soon. very soon, in fact.

A pulse of shock rippled over my spine as the dog stepped out. It was a fae and she looked just like me only taller. She had long fur that feathered around her legs and rump. Her coloring was the same mine was. She had ice blue eyes as well. The thought of meeting someone like me was great. I wagged my stump of a tail as she showed herself. It was good to see another Aussie like myself in these strange parts. When she spoke her tone was harsh. I dropped my head. I felt ashamed. Her voice then softened. “I’m the same as you aren’t I?” I asked tipping my head to the side. I was curious about this bigger me. When she asked if I wanted to learn her ways I bounced up. “You would do that?” I asked bouncing up and down clearly not effected by her crisp tone.

“That would be awesome to learn from a canine such as yourself. What is your name? I’m Asteriah or Aste or Riah whatever you want, ” I spoke pushing my rump down to the ground once more. I was more worried about what I was going to do rather than what she was going to do to me. Such child like faith I had in grown canines. I flicked my ears as I looked back up into her ice blue eyes. In her eyes I saw myself and perhaps she saw herself in me. I tipped my head to the other side. Awaiting the command of my new teacher. I was excited.

[atrb=background,http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj106/horselandsixion/Graphics/novascrolly.jpg][scrolly:h(149),w(459),sy,c()] i looked down upon the tiny fae, as she spoke. i am nova. you have trespassed on skeleton pack lands, which i am the alpha female of. because i am teaching you, you are now a part of my pack. yes, we look the same on the outside, but on the inside as of now, i am stronger than you are. if you want to be like me, then you have to work like i do... i slightly smirked, and listened to her name. asteriah... okay. i can do this. what shall we do first... how about i have her show me how she can hunt? i sat on my haunches, and my expression hardened a bit. i couldn't really engage in any physical activity, due to my swollen belly. the pups were coming soon, and i didn't want them to come sooner than they were expected. i licked my chest a few times, and stood again, grunting. i want you to show me how you can hunt. i will follow you while you are tracing the scent, and i want to see how you can bring it down. i want you to pay me no mind, because i'm a bit slow for now with these pups... well, what are you waiting for. you better get going.

I wagged my stump as she told me her name. Nova the alphess of the Skeleton pack, I thought excitedly. My eyes beamed as she spoke. "Oh yes I will do my best," came my eager voice as I tipped my head. From that point on I wanted to be just like her. She held dignity and confidence in every step she took. I sat myself up straight and tried to look like she did. I even attempted to wipe the happy expression off my face. Finally succeeding with that I looked at Nova expressionless though my eyes never mastered the trick as fast as my face did.

I tipped my head as she spoke of having me show her how I could hunt. Then talking about her being pregnant. She did look swollen with pups. My ears pricked as she nudged me to get going.

I thought for a second before taking off in the direction I was going. Though I was careful not to make any noise with my paws as they kissed the earth. My nose was to the ground as I searched for a scent.

You would never believe the scent that tickled my nose. That dang squirrel that got me here. I smirked, your not going to get away from me this time I growled to myself.

I slowed down as I spied the squirrel in the bushes ahead. dumb thing wasn't around any trees to carry it to safety. I kept myself down wind and crept toward it. Its back was toward me as I crept forward. It twitched its tail as it chewed on a berry from the bush. I was a few whiskers away from him when I pounced on it. I held it down with a paw and dug my sharp nails into its throat. I let out a snarl as I began to smirk at its attempts to loosen itself from my deadly grip. I placed another paw on its tail and held it down. I watched it shriek as I dug my nails into its tail. I laughed. I bent down and killed it. It whimpered a few times before it fell silent. I let my grip loosen and I held it in my mouth. I turned my body toward the way I came and waited for Nova's marbled pelt to show up. I pushed my rump to the ground and looked for her pelt.
