Close your eyes, and imagine a better place...

Ruby padded through the woods, walking slowly so that she could keep an eye on her pups. Asteria was walking beside her, asking questions about what certain things were. Ludano was next to her walking silently with his nose to the ground. Once in a while he would stop and stare at something intensly but then catching up to the rest of them when he was done. Ruby didn't really understand what he was doing, but it wasn't bad so she didn't stop him. Once again he stopped, this time he had managed to find a rabbit, dead and half eaten. This wasn't the place to be eating any sort of prey, it was most likely poisoned.

The third pup, Augustus, walked ahead, as if he was really the one in charge but then turned around to face them. "Dare ya to eat it Ludano! Or are you too much a wimp?" Ruby scowled at Augustus as he pranced ahead after Ludano whimpered and slinked away from it. At least he didn't try an eat it. Asteria nuzzled him on his return to walk with them and whispered something in his ear. Ruby wasn't sure if it was nice or mean, because Ludano didn't take compliments or critizism well. "Mom, where are we going anyways? Asteria finally asked. She was waiting for that question. It was one Ruby was asking herself. She paused for a moment and all three pups looked at her as if they were worried. That wasn't what she wanted, that couldn't happen. They had to keep moving so they would never meet Duke but... They were Duke and it was Ruby's own cause for wanting to keep away. The pups were at an age in which they were somewhat safe, and Ruby now had friends.

Mom? I think I smell someone else...Ludano's soft voice broke the silence. Why could he smell so well? Ruby could not smell anyone. Was it because he looked more like a bloodhound than anything else? Maybe Duke held a trait for it... Ruby shook her head and looked around. She didn't see anything, but then she could smell another canine. "You're right honey, but I think it's okay. We'll just keep moving..."To where!? Augustus snapped impatiently

She growled, glaring at the pups she carried inside her. She knew it was the pups fault, but it still didn’t seem fair. Why did she have to deal with this. She didn’t even want a family. Why did it have to be she that the male ran into. Why couldn’t it have been some other male. Why couldn’t it have been someone else? Why her? If that jackass ever shows up again, I’ll rip a whole in him. Or at least, the coyote would try. Kal continued to walk, her destination unknown for this point in time, merely just using the knowledge that she wanted to go somewhere. Her paws picked up high, her tail held high, despite her head being a little lower, do to her thoughts. She wasn’t sure where she was going till the scent of the waste from the pool, pond, place met her muzzle and she wrinkled it in distaste. What one earth? It smelt worse then the hospital… The coyote snorted, quickening her speed in hopes of getting out as quickly as she could, she had no desire to be in this place for long. The smell was atrocious, and she didn’t even want to begin to wonder what made up a smell like this. She trudged on, doing her best to breath through her mouth, until she could begin to taste the waste on the air. She coughed and hurried faster – which is when she saw a dog in the near distance. Kal stopped, freezing, before she saw a few things that made her relax slightly. The first was the pups; and only one dog here had pups, though she’d have some of her own soon – insert angry growl here. The second was the dog herself, Kal instantly recognized Ruby, from the meeting, and after a moment of posing the pregnant coyote slowly began to move towards the pups and their mother. She let out a soft bark, letting Ruby know of her approach, so she didn’t scare her, or anything, “Umm, Ruby isn’t it? Taboo introduced us at the meeting? I’m Kaliska.” The coyote said, less shy then when she was at the meeting – much less shy, as she offered the female a timid smile. Think the thoughts. "Talk the talk."
