Musings and worry (Marrok)

[Bigby]

The Sky was clear as Bigby walked out to the lake. She loved how the lake was large and always came here when she was upset, like she was right now. Bigby sighed and walked over to the waters edge, looking at her reflection. She saw her light grey fur blowing softly in the summer breeze, but her main concern was her eyes. The amber eyes were filled with concern and worry, somthing that should be hidden deep inside of her.

Bigby hated to make her fellow wolves worry, being the alpha she had many duties, from keeping the pack alive and well, to defending their territory from other packs trying to take over. It was also tough to be the alpha because she was a girl. Like it or not, Bigby knew that was a disadvantage when it would be time to talk to other leaders who were bigger, and stronger then her.Thankfully, most packs leave Reaper territory alone.

Looking out at the lake she layed down on the grassy meadow and felt the cool ground under her, trying to erase her mind. She stayed like that for a few moments, untill finally she gave up. Something always came back in her mind for her to worry over.

The white paws of a large brute tapped the ground softly as he walked. He headed towards the lake, stopping within the bushes to see the ever beautiful Alphess sitting there alone. He looked around to double check, he had only spoken to her a few times since joining the pack. His plan had been to make her fall in love with him, get to the top and be the Alpha male, with a pretty little fae ruling at his side. As he imagined the picture he smile to himself. He was not always cruel like others beleived, he did have a heart, but it was covered with layer after layer of stone.
Marrok had a great longing to be a leader, a need to have control, and under all that, he needed someone to understand him and make him feel all right. HE had grown up in a different pack, his parents and siblings ppicking on him, the smallest, easily fightened and to little to do anything about it, and as he grew he became bigger than his siblings, and cruel. Vowing to make his name known before he returned, he vowed to be better than them, and he would one day.
Slowly shaking his thoughts he stepped from the woods, a smile playing at his lips, a handsome smile. Slowly he made his way to her and sat about a foot away, facing the same way. He looked at her, quickly looking her over before she turned to him. "Hello Alphess." he said with a smile. "What brings you here today?" he asked politely. Waiting for her reply.

Bigby snapped out of her thoughts when she heard a male wolf greet her. She looked at him and saw that he was smiling at her. The wolfs name was... Marrok, yes that was it. She had met him a few times and thought he was very... well, Bigby was sure he was nice.

She smiled back at him with a sincere smile "Hello Marrok, I was just thinking about..." Bigby stopped right there and looked back at the water. Should she tell Marrok about her worries. Her smile dropped and the worry once more filled her amber eyes. It was hard keeping Reaper pack up, and she really could use some advice.... but she did not want to make Marrok worry too.

"I was thinking about... the weather!" Bigby looked up at the sky and smiled at the clear, blue sky. "It's such a lovely day to be neer the water and I thought I should enjoy it." She looked back at Marrok with the same smile."What are you doing here Marrok? Same thing?" She smiled at him, this smile was forced as she tried to repress her worry.

Marrok listened carefully to her, watching her debate with herself. He could see it all in her eyes, not clear thoughts, but along the lines of what she was feeling. He shook his head before speaking. "The weather seems to be the last thing on your mind" he said his voice soft.
"I can see it in those eyes of yours, you work hard to conceal what your feeling, but if I look close enough, i can see it." he said softly. He found himself gazing into her eyes wich was odd for him, he never noticed others so much unless they were a threat, and she was no threat, but an ally of sorts. And yet he was reading her like an open book. He watched her, curiosity swimming in his mind. Would it be so bad for him to get to know another wolf? Let someone close to him for once? Maybe she could help him? Maybe, but he knew he was lost to even himself, so how could she really help him any?

Bigby looked into Marrok eyes and saw that he really was concerned about her. Looking away from the wolf she stared at the water, trying to collect her thoughts. "I've been worried about the packs welfare." She paused right there and looked at him with a smile "Not like I can't handle being the Alpha, no I love my job. It makes me feel good to know I'm helping my pack in every way I can."

Bigby remembered all the things she could do to help her pack and she wagged her tail in delight. It made her feel good when she was able to solve issues and have everyone help each other. Although there were the downsides to being alpha...like not being able to have fun with the other wolves..or being able to have a love life..

This thought made Bigbys smile drop and her tail stop wagging. She looked back at the male wolf before her. Sure he was good-looking, but the only reason anyone would mate with me is to gain power... She thought sadly to herself.

looking back out into the water she smiled softly."It's just that there is a price to be paid for being on top of the world...you can't really enjoy what everyone else can." She told herself softly.

Marrok watched her, wondering just exactly what was she thinking. She took pleasure in actually helping her pack, she didnt do it just for the power. An odd thought, he had always really thought thats all it was about, is having the power. But she didnt do that. He was feeling a little weird as he contemplated this. A beautiful, strong female wolf like her, only wanting to really help her pack.
"Your a great Alphess." he stated simply, he listened to the rest of her words, watching her tail stop and her face fall. "To be honest Bigby. You could. You can have what ever you want. It takes alot to be an alpha, yes. But that doesnt mean you cannot have your own life, your own love, and your own family." he said softly, watching her eyes, he didnt know why but he was relaxing more around her, though visibly he seemed completely calm, inside he was just begining to relax around her, a feeling he had never felt before. He didnt understand it a bit, it scared him, yet he liked the feeling as well. And the words he spoke were true, not just one of his mind games to get to the top.

Bigby smiled at Marrok. His words were very nice to hear, but she knew that somethings were hard to get. Still, it was nice that Marrok was being so kind to her. It made her feel more then a leader, it made her feel normal. Especially when her heard him say her name.

Enough of this depressing talk, Bigby thought to herself. She hated to stay sad for long periods of time, and she really wanted to play right now. Looking at Marrok with a smile she wagged her tail slightly. "Your right Marrok, but right now, all I want to do is feel really happy and play! I have not done that in months." Bigby stood up and streched her legs for a moment before looking at the calm male wolf. I wonder if he would like to race with me... Bigby thought to herself.

After she was done streching her long body she looked at him with a smile. "Wanna play with me for a bit? No one will have to know we played puppy games. Besides, If I'm Alpha, like you just told me, I can play if I want to." She paused slightly after this statement "Right?" She asked curously.

Marrok watched her a little curious, play? HIM? He had never really played with another before, he had always been the outcast, always. Marrok had grown up being made fun of, if he ever did play with others, he was the target of the game, most of the time he never played, not even by himself. The thought sparked inside him, his heart beat a little faster in excitement. Over a game? Over playing with a female? He had not felt excitement for something so simple in years, normally he only got excited if he was wining. But this female was exciting him, making him want to play with her like a pup, how odd. He decided not to push the feeling away, but to embrace it, a little normal fun couldnt hurt him. "Yes Bigby you are correct, you can do anything you want." he chuckled slightly, he was giving advice to the alphess, good advice, not really even advice to help him out, but to stop her worry and make her a little happier. How odd. "Yes, I'll play with you. How about a race?" he suggested his own tail wagging in excitement.As her tail wagged he cought the slight scent and almost tensed, but cought himself. He smiled at her, waiting, he wouldnt allow himself to tense up because a female was in heat, he had trained himself to resist it, though his natural urges were hard, he did it.

Bigby smiled at Marrok glad that he had agreed and not made fun of her. She liked that he was fine with playing games. It's fun to relax once in a while. Marrok looked like he needed some fun Bigby thought to herself looking at the wolf beside her.

Bigby stopped looking at Marrok and looked around the area for a moment. She knew theses parts very well, she hunted most of her meals here, and knew the best areas to run in. "Alright so We race around the lake and back. Loser gets pushed into the lake" Bigby laughed at this before smiling. "Winner has to jump in voluntarily though, because we'll both need a bath after this race."

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath to calm her self, Bigby counted backwards from ten. When she opened them, her amber eyes were focused, thinking about the lay of the land, and looking around at any debris in her way. Bigby glanced at Marrok. "Ready when you are" She told him with a smile.

Marrok watched her, a small smile playing on his lips. "The lake eh?" he laughed, and he took a moment to ready himself, stretching his large body out. He shook his pelt and lined up next to her, his fur touching hers, he smiled, the feeling felt nice. taking a deep breath and looking over the course he winked at her. "Ready. Set. Go." he said evenly, taking breaths between words. And off he went, starting off evenly, he ran. The excitement pulsating through his veins. He lept over a fallen tree, barely jumping in time, he didnt really pay attention to where she was, he just ran, watching the area around him, so he didnt trip and make a fool of himself. His tongue lolled and his jaws hung slack in a lazy smile. He hadn't had actual fun in a long time, and even though it was just a race with a pretty pack alpha, it made his year. And a pretty pack alpha she was, he was really looking forward to getting to know her better, yes he still had deviant plans, but he thought he could actually, truely, be friends with her, maybe more, he tried not to think of things ahead of time, but he liked her, you could say he had a crush already.

Bigby Did not notice Marrok wink at her, but as soon as He said go, She ran. Her eyes focused on nothing but what was in front of her, Marrok was ahead of her for a few moments, but Bigby smirked. She jumped up on a fallen red wood trunk above Marrok and ran faster then she had been before. When it was the end of the trunk bigby leaped down from where she was right in front of Marrok. her amber eyes shined in joy as she ducked to avoid fallen tree branches. It was a good thing Bigby knew this place or else she would have tripped or fallen by now.

Marrok is fast, Bigby thought to herself with a smile. It was nice to see someone keep up with her speed. Bigby jumped past a fallen tree and kept going. He was very nice, a bit of a pushover, but that might just be because She was the Alphess and he had to always be a bit nice to me. Bigby thought to herself. She ran faster and jumped over the finish line, winning the race.
