The warm afternoon sun shone high in the sky, casting it's rays down on the abandoned amusement park that lay out on the pier. What use to be a beautiful and fun place for humans to come to enjoy themselves was now nothing but a broken down old junk yard full of ancient roller coasters, rusted carousels and go karts frozen forever. And although the sight of the haunted looking pier might make a human turn and run, it made a dog like Steel smile and come closer. Claws scraped across the old wooden planks that held the rusting metal out of the water's reach. Long white socked legs carried a black and white Border Collie down the middle of the amusement park, light blue eyes taking in the sights of the broken down rides and the sounds of the waves crashing against the beach nearby. Taking a deep breath of the salty air, the Border Collie heading towards an old roller coaster that stood at the very end of the pier, facing towards the vast ocean that lay beyond. Climbing up the stairs where the humans would wait their turn, the male lept easily over the rope and started up the metal stairs that clung to the side of the roller coaster, stretching all the way up to the top of the highest drop. His paws climbed all the way to the top of the thin metal walkway before stopping on a flat platform that was used by the humans to make any adjustements to the deadly ride or to fix it if something went wrong. Now the platform's railings that would have kept a human from fall to their death from this high perch were gone and Steel was thankful for that. Laying down on the warm metal platform, a content sigh escaped his jaws. The cool breeze from up here brushed through his rather short black and white fur, cooling him off as the sun shone down on him. This was the place he came to think. With the beautiful view of the ocean straight ahead it was a good place to forget about things. And as high up as he was, no one would be able to sneak up on him without him knowing they were there far before they got close to him.

Rapture's paws lightly touched the ground of the Pier. Her nose picked up the brine scent of the ocean. It slightly burned her inside of her nostrils and she sneezed. Her ivory fur blew softly in the breeze. Her ice blue eyes scanned around, looking for any signs of movement. Both ears were pricked up right , acoustics cupping any faint noise that might come to them.
Her nose picked up a male that had passed through here recently. She paused for a moment and began following the scent. She spied an ebony and white border collie. She planted her rump down on the ground, forelegs coming to the front of her chest keeping her upper body erect. She regarded the male and spoke softly.
"Hello there. I'm Rapture. What's your name?" she asked softly watching him.
Both ears were turned forward towards him, waiting for his response.
Her lower jaw dropped, salmon pink tongue lolling out and resting over her bottom two canines as she panted softly. It was lovely weather out. The sky was a lovely baby blue color witih fluffy white clouds that drifted across lazily. She had to smile. THe docs bobbed softly with the water lapping against the foundation. She waited patiently for him to speak

The scent of an approaching female reached the black nose of the male Border Collie and he rose to his paws before turning to see a white Shepherd coming towards the roller coaster he was perched on top of. With a slight sigh, the male proceeded to climb down off of the tall roller coaster, his white spotted paws touching the ground once more. Giving his black and white coat a quick shake, he climbed down the stairs of the roller coaster waiting area and lept over the rope once more, landing gracefully on the ground in front of her. His light blue eyes inspected her for a moment before a small smile crossed his face. She was a rather pretty female and he wasn't one to be rude to a pretty female, even though at the moment he didn't feel up to talking to anyone. "Steel. The name's Steel." Was his reply, his voice sounding a little friendly but having a bit of a sharpness to it, something it had a lot of the time. He allowed his eyes to look her over once more, realizing she wasn't a threat though he planted his hindquarters on the ground as well, his white tipped tail resting on the wooden planks under his paws.

Note: Raptures a siberian husky xD Rapture smiled at Steel and nodded. Her tail waved behind her slowly, sweeping across the docks. Her blue eyes caught the sunlight, making them glow sapphire. She spoke to him again.
"It's nice to meet you Steel. What brings you out here?" She asked him brightly.
She was just glad that he wasn't one of those males that were rude and arrogant toward a female. She hated those kinds of males and often spoke to them just as harshly as they spoke to her. One ear cocked back, listening to the sounds that surrounded them on the dock.
Her nose picked up the scent from the ocean and padded a little closer to Steel. She hoped he didn't mind that she got a little closer to him. Some males didn't like their personal space invaded like that.
"If this makes you uncomfortable, I can move away," Rapture said slowly , lifting a front paw as though going to move back from him. Her eyes rested on him. He was a handsome dog that was for sure. She hadn't bumped into a male in a long time really so this was a nice change. She waited

Steel's light blue eyes gazed into hers for a moment before he glanced away but his eyes looked back at her once more, a small smile raising one side of his mouth as he watched her thoughtfully. "I like to come out here to get away from things. It's quiet and helps me think." He replied, not sure why he had just told her that considering that was something he normally wouldn't have shared with a perfect stranger. His eyes were trained on her once more and they followed her as she moved closer to him. Her voice brought him out of his thoughts when she asked him if he wanted her to move since she was rather close. Clearing his throat a little he shook his head, actually enjoying her presence far more than he would have thought he would. "No uh. . . you're fine." he replied, giving her a small smile before glancing away, his eyes looking back up the way he had come earlier but shifting back to her once more. It was strange for him to have a females attention like this. He was usually the male that didn't care if a female talked to him or not and he definitely didn't go out of his way to woo the ladies. Instead he didn't mind being alone, though having company every once and awhile was definitely nice.

Rapture beamed at the male.
"So, do you have any family near here? Or from the city originally?" She asked him curiously as she tilted her head to the side.
Rapture wasn't used to having a male stare at her. I mean sure she knew she was pretty and gorgeous, but the males never really spent the time to talk to her like this. They all wanted to mount her for a one night stand. Her tail slowly thumped against the ground, gently kicking up some dust that had settled on the pier. She smiled at Steel.
"hey wanna take a walk with me? i know a good place that has good. I generally go there alone, but it would be nice to have company for a change," Rapture said to him brightly as she waved her tail behind her eagerly. Both of her ears were pricked upright, awaiting to hear his response.
She had to admit, she was starting to like him a lot. Surely though he had a mate right? A dog as handsome as he was was bound to have a mate already. She realized she was blushing and shyly lowered her gaze studying the wood plank before raising them again.

Steel shook his head when she asked him about his family. "No, I haven't seen my parents since I was a pup and I don't have anyone else." he replied plainly, as if it was no big deal to be on your own with no mate or pups or pack. He didn't mind it of course, but most dogs these days all wanted to have either a pack to live among or a mate to have with them all the time. Steel on the other hand was perfectly content with being on his own. He didn't mind it as much as most dogs probably did. Though he had been on his own for most of his life and he was starting to get a very strong feeling that he was missing out on something. Like there was more to life than just wandering around. "Sure why not." He replied when she invited him to go on a walk. It had been a long time since he had spent much time with a beautiful female. A very long time. And he was actually finding that he rather enjoyed her presence. She wasn't an annoyance like so many other dogs he had ran into during his travels.

Rapture beamed at him and began walking, falling in line next to him perfectly. She heard him say that he hadn't any family nearby. She nodded and spoke to him softly.
"Ah I see. I dont have any family either. I'm basically on my own" She said to him with a touch of sadness in her voice. Her ice blue eyes moved onto Steel.
"What about your mate? Don't you have one?" She implied of him curiously cocking her head to one side. Surely a handsome dog like he was had a female already. She herself, though didn't have a mate. No male had expressed interest in her that way before anyway.
She began wondering if she would ever find someone that would express interest in her and love her like that. Sadness had crept into her expression but she forced herself to be neutral and cheerful.
Her paws crunched over some dead leaves, making them break into powder. Above a gently breeze ruffled her fur. Both ears were turned toward Steel, waiting for his response. She glanced at him sideways. She smiled at him, her tongue lolling out and resting over her canines.

Steel strolled next to Rapture, a small smile forming on his face as he walked, glancing over at her every so often. When she asked him if he had a mate he shook his head. "No I don't have a mate." He replied simply. His eyes narrowed a little as he thought back to his past. He definitely wasn't proud of it and his past was what kept him from moving on in the future. Back when he was younger he hadn't been a very kind dog. He stole from others, manipulated others to do things for him and even killed a few. How he could possibly pull a mate and even pups into something like that. The things he had done in the past had been on his tail for awhile now and it was only a matter of time before they caught up to him. How would he be able to protect anyone but himself? And what if something happened to his mate or pups? He would never be able to forgive himself. That's why he had found it to be easier to just shut others out so that way they wouldn't end up getting hurt too. It was for the best.
