Dark triangular ears scanned the dusty horizon where the sun beat down and baked the water out or the dirt. The Vexis King sat on his haunches, heat radiating up through his paws. These lands were unforgiving and harsh, but for those who had nothing left to lose, it was home. It's strange how all of these dogs had come together, in a final struggle to survive.
Each one knew that their lives and loves were ending. But yet each one found the courage and the strength in them comfort another. This was why he had brought them here. Far from the eyes of the packs, from their judgment. It was here that they would live out their final days, maybe not in comfort, but in peace. It was time to bring them together now. His band of misfits. His family.
The howl left his maw in a haunting cry that he offered to the spirits above. He called his pack to him, called the spirits of the deceased. He knew they would come. They had to.

Walking in a sort of trot the eight inch female made her way happily along the familiar trail. Head held high, but tail tucked, an odd gesture, but the female liked to keep herself to herself. She let a lazy little smile crawl across her pointed snout. She let her body sway a little as she walked. The little fox liked to think of herself as attractive, though there were no other males around that matched her breed. She let her large ears swivel and her big innocent dark green eyes watch the surrounding land. Her leaders call caught her large ears.
A little yip escaped her maw as she picked up the pace, getting caught up in her own easily brought on excitement. A chance to gather with the rest of her pack, see any new additions. Just those two thoughts alone were enough to make her yip again and start off even faster, racing through the lands, jumping and bouncing. Her natural high spirits set her heart racing easily. She of course didn't pay attention to the exact location of the call, only went racing towards it. Her leaders form came into view much to quickly, she tried but didn't succeed in stopping, her paws dug into the dirt as she skidded past her leader, barely missing him, dirt went flying everywhere as she landed in a heap of sandy colored fur and dirt. She groaned as she lay there, waiting to make sure nothing was broken. She slowly stood on sore limbs. Shaking slightly and, dirt and dust fell from her pelt as she stood. "Greetings Leader, I apologize, I wasn't paying attention" she said her velvety voice ringing apologetically, with a hint of embarrassment.

The sound of small paws reached Archeron's ears long before the real ones actually did. A small white ball of fur shot past him, nearly shooting off the cliff. Instinct moved his jaws to catches the poor little beast, to save it from plummeting to it's premature death. He was grateful when it managed to stop before he had to catch it's scruff.

the fluff ball said, seeming slightly embarrassed. "Hello there." he said, smiling down as much as a maned wolf was able. In all truth, he was quite amused by the small creature, and admired her courage for coming all the way up here. He recognized her as part of his pack but he didn't remember being formally introduced. "I am Archeron. I don't believe I caught your name yet." [/sub][/blockquote]

Sylvester lifted her head from a short restless nap, surveying the land before her. She was itching for a job. The red fox snorted at a beetle, and quickly crushed the pitiful thing under her claws. She ate it quickly, before it could dry out under the summer sun. When she was finished, she planted her nearly hairless rump on the blistering hot sand. She really wanted a pack meeting, not really to meet the rest of her pack mates, but more to get a job. She was the head assassin, but she hadn't assassinated anything since before the pack had formed. As if her leader had read her thoughts, a sharp howl broke the desert silence, and she stood, shaking the sand out of her remaining fur. She set off in the howls direction, toward simmer point, and climbed up to where she could see her leaders silhouette. She padded lithely, almost feline in her movements, and nodded her head at Archeron in greeting. She looked around. Looks like she was only the second one to arrive. The other member there was a little female fox. She looked embarrassed, and Sylvester sneered. "Hello, little one," The words seemed to slither off of her tongue. "I am Fester. What is your name, fox?" Sylvester didn't particularly care what the foxes name was, but she might as well learn her allies names while they were all together.

Chilali gave him her best big smile and dipped her head in respect. "Hello Archeron, I am known as Chilali. A pleasure to formally meet you." she lifted her head and looked him in the eye as she spoke. Slowly she turned and took a seat at a respectful distance, quickly grooming her fluffed up now dirty fur. Once her light sandy fur was back in order she looked her normal perky self once more. Sitting straight and waiting patiently for the others to arrive. Another pack member entered and sneered in her direction before speaking to her. /Bad first impressions seem to be the point of this day.../ she thought shaking her head slightly. "I would be known by the name of Chilali. A pleasure to meet you... Fester.." Chilali said letting the others name roll of her tongue. Just as if she were tasting it, or trying it on for size. A bitter name. A little sigh escaped her mouth, maybe some of the pack members would not be quite so friendly. Maybe not as happy,go lucky and out going as she was. Oh well. Not everyone could be a happy little fennec fox.

A white Akita snored softly. Every now and then her swollen belly would ripple and the Akita would stir only to relax again and begin to snore. Such the life of a pregnant fae.
So far thats what its been like for me. This would be my first litter and the first litter in the Vexis pack. Or I think anyways. I was banned from the Rig pack when I had the breeding call. Duke and Arch almost fought because of me. That was one thing I didn't want. I ended up going with Archeron because he was different and more polite than Duke. Plus I had bitterness toward Taik. The babysitter in the Rig pack. I vowed deep in my heart I wouldn't let my pups get raised by the likes of her.
Eh, I'm getting deep.
My snore became disturbed as my ears pricked. "Archeron is calling for a pack meeting," I said drowsily. Slowly I rose huffing with effort. Finally getting to my paws I began a slow painful trot toward my mate and king. Archeron.
Slowly I covered ground. Making sure to not trip over bones and cracks in the barren land I now call home. I was deeply moved at the devotion of this sickly pack. Not that they were dirty but they were infected. I didn't care though. They were all kind to me. Especially Archeron. Then again thats prolly why I fell for him.
I shook my head. I was fortunate to be able to find food in the Open Lands. I never went hungry and I always made sure to bring home food. I was told once I was making to much effort. In my mind though I was making myself useful.
I finally arrived at the pack meeting and dipped my head to the other two pack members and finally to Archeron. "Sorry I'm late," I said with a smile. I sat down beside Archeron letting my fur brush his. My plump belly pushed a little into Archeron's side.
Muse: good Puppet: Wolf Comments: Sorry I poofed I had some issues suddenly pop up.

Dark brown ears perked up at the familiar sounds of a howl. The specific howl was unfamiliar to the canine but it was the sound of another living, breathing canine none the less. The tired canine eased herself to her feet, standing at her full height. Her jaws hung open lazily, letting her salmon pink tongue loll from her mouth, resting lightly over her bottom teeth. Her expression was one of both curiosity and confusement. She had never been called to a meeting before and with no escort had no way of knowing what exactly to do. But, to save herself from not attending this meeting of the Vexis dogs her lust for companionship overpowered her actions and she quickly padded towards the direction of the sound. At least, the direction she assumed the sound had originated from.
As she walked she was beginning to pick up her pace. Every step Yogi took would result in a wider, quicker step next. Soon enough she was running blindly in the blistering sunlight of the day. Her paws touched lightly on the hot ground, relieving her of the constant pain she felt when standing or sitting still on the hard earth. Her brown eyes scanned the horizon as her yellow form moved swiftly forward. Her salmon pink tongue hung at the corners of her mouth, pushed back by the forward movement.
Soon enough a small crowd of canines came into view. Four would have been the number she would have observed if she could have ever learned to count. As she came closer towards her destination she gradually slowed down to a trot-like pace. Her sides heaved in an attempt to catch her breath as she came to a stop. Her eyes rolled towards the back of her head. She couldn't move, she couldn't breath, she could only...PLOP.
The mutt had fallen to the ground, fainted some would call it. The oxygen flow to her brain had been slowed as was a side effect of her swift running and movements. She lay, exhausted, on the hot dirt beneath her as it seared at her belly. It took only a few moments for her to regain conciousness and become herself again. She rolled over onto her back and began moving back and forth in the dirt, as playful as a puppy.
Blinking away the dust and grime from her eyes she collected herself, rolled back over, and climbed to her feet. Yogi felt no embarrassment towards her actions but thought it best to address the others. Her stupid grin was plastered across her face as she glanced around and cocked her head slightly to the side. The only thing she could find herself to say was, "Hi."
