Taboo padded through the doors of the old hospital. It was odd here, very creepy. The smell of death and disease lingered here from when the humans were still around. The husky had only come here to get out of the sun. She walked through the first floor, her multi-colored pelt brushing against the old furniture of the waiting room. She suddenly scented a dog, one she hadn't met before, but still from her pack. She followed the scent to the stairs. Hesitation flashed in her bright blue eyes only momentarily, as her determined side kicked in. She started quickly up the dark staircase, paws touching quietly to each stair. The carpeting was bare from countless years of no upkeep and from dogs stepping on them. Right now, the hospital seemed empty, but she knew that dog was close. Her long, slender legs moved in a perfect rhythmic stride, and she finally reached the top stair. The old door was on one hinge and cracked open. She cautiously poked her head around the door to see a sleeping dog. She sniffed. Not dog. Coyote. Her eyes narrowed, not in a glare, but to keep the sun that was shining through a broken window out of her eyes. She padded softly up the the snoozing animal and suddenly poked it in the shoulder hard enough to wake it.

Her first choice hadn’t been the hospitable, but it seemed just as good as any thing. Or at least, that’s what she thought till she stepped in and was overwhelmed by the remaining scents of death, blood, and disease. She wrinkled her nose, regardless, forcing herself to keep moving, sighing as she did so. It wouldn’t take her long to become used to the smell, despite how terrible it was. Liquid, golden brown eyes stared out of a soft tanned face as she walked, her paws carrying her to a stair case, and carefully climbed up, making sure to not slip on the un kept stairs. She wasn’t sure where she was going, just that she wanted to hide. To relax. Not be found… While she figured out what the hell had happened. She blocked that memory out of her mind as she pushed her shoulders, knocking a door open slightly, so she could enter the room behind the door. A window was broken, letting in clean air, and warm sunlight, that was lit on a mattress. Scatter around the room where a few blankets. It didn’t take her long to pull them to the mattress and arrange it like a nest, before circling it once, and laying down. Her eyes closed, as the sun warmed her pelt, and lulled her asleep.
---------------------------------------------
Kal didn’t wake again, till she was startled when a muzzle pressed against her shoulder, hard enough to wake her. A startled growl sprung free of the little coyote, as she almost seemed to fly away, her soft brown eyes wide with surprise, before she realized it was just a husky that had woken her. And judging by the scent. Another pack female. Kal’s breathing slowly returned to normal as she flushed beneath her tanned pelt, “You scared me. Wasn’t expectin’ anyone to find me here… Uh, I’m Kaliska, I go by Kal. Who’re you?” Kal asked, in heavily southern accented vocals. It wasn’t the sort of accent you’d hear often, considering most of the dogs around here were born in the area. Kal came from down south, far down south, where cows were as common as pigs, and a coyote could keep a bit of land with out having to be part of a pack. But, alas, she’s here now. She looked at the husky, a shy grin on her face, as she finally thought she might have found a way out of thinking about the Embalm King, and what might be growing inside her now.

The coyote before Taboo woke with a start, but soon realized that the dog that had woken her up was of her pack. Taboo smiled and even chuckled a little as the female slowed her startled breath, and spoke. You scared me. Wasn’t expectin’ anyone to find me here… Uh, I’m Kaliska, I go by Kal. Who’re you? [/b] The pretty husky blinked at the pretty female, apparently named Kaliska. "I go by the name Taboo. Nice to meet you, Kal. I like your accent." Taboo wasn't a dog to hold back her thoughts. She padded across the room to a less brightly lit corner, and planted her fluffy rump on the dusty, unkempt ground. "What are you up to in this old place? I didn't think anybody would be here. I just desperately needed to get out of the sun." Her bright eyes scanned the room, and she scented the air. She smelled something else.. She stood again and walked briskly over to Kaliska again, and sniffed her. "You smell like Embalm! Why is that?" Her voice wasn't angry or threatening, just curious, and she sat again, waiting for a reply. [/blockquote][/size]

[atrb=width,500,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=background,http://i51.tinypic.com/9g94ll.jpg] When you’re asleep, in a warm place; you don’t expect to be woken by a cold nose nudging your shoulder. So, it was really no surprise that Kaliska had startled so easily, jumping far enough away from the unfamiliar dog, that it wouldn’t attack her. Of course, it wasn’t that soon after that Kal recognized the scent on the husky, and had to force her breath to return to normal, though the tenseness in her muscles didn’t retreat. Her history had made her hesitant and defensive around others… Because what good is having some have your back, when they’ll stab a knife in; themselves. She kept her eyes on the female, and was careful to not turn her back, a protective gesture seen in those who might have been abused in their pup hood. Being abused could have been better… The coyote watched as the other female blinked, before speaking herself, I go by the name Taboo. Nice to meet you, Kal. I like your accent. A slight smile was visible, before it disappeared, as she watched Taboo move to a less brightly lit corner, and Kal slowly moved back to her make shift bed, and laid down, her eyes locked on Taboo’s form, muscles tensed and ready to move should the need arise. “Nice ta… meet ya as well, Taboo. And, thanks, I guess. It’s a tad unfamiliar in this area, but I think that’s just ‘cause there ain’t any others from down south, here.” She said, her tone soft, quiet, as light as the dust in the hospital.
What are you up to in this old place? I didn’t think anybody would be here. I just desperately needed to get out of the sun. Kal shrugged, her eyes going distant for a moment. Why was she here? To think about the Embalm King, and what they’d done, or he’d done, or… She didn’t even want to know… It was like someone else had taken over her body for that few moments with him, she didn’t want to think about it…. He’d used her, yes… that’s what it was. He’d come, saw her, and used her… that had to be it… She of course, was ignoring the whole nuzzle, and lick she’d received when he first approached her, the apology he’d given when he got close enough to see past her defensive posture. “Just needed a place to relax, unwind… Ya know? A place to think, and forget… I hadn’t expected anyone else to come here either. But, I suppose company isn’t all bad, right?” The tone she used at that moment was pure questioning, her expression stating her distrust towards company, her distrust towards others. She couldn’t let anyone close, not with out holding the threat of it coming back and biting her in the ass. Which happened a lot.
The husky then looked around, before sniffing slightly. Which was when she stood again, and walked closer to the little coyote, instantly having Kal flinch and move away – another sign of a former abused female, as the husky sniffed her, then spoke in a curious tone, before sitting down, a tone that made Kal’s blood run cold. You smell like Embalm! Why is that? her gaze instantly dropped, her posture turning a tad more defensive, and you could almost see her retreating into herself, before she mumbled in a heavily accented, but very soft, and clear voice, “That’s the reason I needed some place to relax and forget… I, uh, was in heat earlier… and… the Embalm King had strayed into our lands… and caught scent of me… and…” Her voice fell silent, when she realized it sounded like he had raped her. But he hadn’t, had he? Force bred her? Did he? Her memory of what had happened was flittering at best. She remembered him stalking forward, pissed when she bared her fangs at him, protecting her own hide, as well as attempting to warn him of the pack lands. Then he’d stopped when he saw her, and almost plump down, looking her over with a tender eye that had her more scared then defensive, then he approached slowly, attempting to lick and nuzzle her before he apologized. Apologized for threatening her with rape… What had happened between them… She didn’t even want to begin to know.

Just needed a place to relax, unwind… Ya know? A place to think, and forget… I hadn’t expected anyone else to come here either. But, I suppose company isn’t all bad, right? [/b] Taboo nodded at the coyotes statement. She didn't mind company, and she was definitely a social dog. She sat down and waited for an answer to her second question. That’s the reason I needed some place to relax and forget… I, uh, was in heat earlier… and… the Embalm King had strayed into our lands… and caught scent of me… and… Taboos expression changed from curiosity to surprise, and her pointed ears stuck straight up in a less relaxed position. "What happened?? He didn't mate you, did he? Are you alright?" Her questions were pouring out in a rushed stream, but she stopped to think. Kaliska had said Forget. She obviously didn't want to discuss that subject. Her forehead creased, and she looked back at the flinching coyote. "I won't tell anybody, I promise. Do you need any help, Kal? I really do promise, I never go back on my word." Her bright eyes softened. She was extremely loyal, and wasn't kidding about never going back on her word. She half smiled in a friendly way, and waited for Kaliska to reply.[/blockquote][/size]

Kal had never been the type to know how to act around others, what to say, how to behave, what to think, anything! At least she was getting things right with this female, right? Or at least, she hoped so. She then watched as Kal sat down, and sighed, knowing she’d have to talk about… what had happened, at least… briefly. She watched as the other female’s expression changed from curiosity to surprise, her ears standing straight up on her head, in an obviously less relaxed position, as she spoke, What happened?? He didn’t mate you, did he? Are you alright? The questions came quicker then she was expecting, causing her to stumble in surprise, as she fumbled for wording to explain it. She didn’t want to talk about it… “He… I… we...”
The tiny coyote quivered slightly, her expression scared, as she shook her head. She couldn’t even explain what had happened. How pathetic was that. I won’t tell anybody, I promise. Do you need any help, Kal? I really do promise, I never go back on my word. It was then that she smiled, slightly; in a friendly way, and Kal finally let herself collapse, her eyes closing, “Taboo… what am I going to do? I’m so scared… I neva had a family I could lean on. If I get pregnant, I ain’t gonna know how to take care of any pups. I… Taboo… I need your help, I do… but, please… don’t tell anyone about what happened. I’m still not sure if it was force or not… I’d rather that it was believed that I was bred by a Rigormortis dog, then the embalm king. Please, Taboo? For my sake… and any possible pups?” Kal then closed her eyes, sighing softly, and for eth first time in her life, showed her troubles and worries to herself, in front of a stranger… Nothing was hidden - not this time…

Taboos brow furrowed in a sympathetic expression. She would help this coyote, if it was the last thing she did. Her maw parted and her pink tongue formed soft words in the abandoned hospital. "I will help you, and I will never tell. I give you my word. As for possible puppies, I will help you with that, too. I love to care for pups, and will help you with whatever you need." She lifted her leg to scratch at a flea near her ear, and she stood to grab some blankets. She pulled a few over by Kaliskas nest and maneuvered the pitiful cloths until it became a suitable bed. The sun was starting it's quick descent in the red and purple sky. She yawned and smiled at Kal as she curled up to keep herself warm. Sure, long fur on summer days kind of sucked, but at night, it was great. It kept her the perfect warmth in the night. "I will be here for you." She nodded as she spoke those words, acknowledging the truth to the statement, Her bright blue eyes turning purple in the red light of the sunset.

[atrb=width,500,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,0,true][atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=background,http://i51.tinypic.com/9g94ll.jpg]To say that little miss Kal was just a tad worried about what ever is going on, it was obvious that they hadn’t caught onto Kal’s speech or demeanor. Kal was utterly terrified at the moment, of course – that didn’t mean she’d sit down and let someone walk all over her, she just wasn’t really prepared for the realization of one thing. Pups came from breeding. Family came from pups. And, she wasn’t good with family. Not one bit. No suck thing as family, these pups ain’t gonna change that. Soon as they’re old enough, they’re gonna be gone. It ain’t gonna change a thing. The philosophy was already settling in on her, the idea the pups weren’t real, that they weren’t hers, that she wouldn’t have to deal with them. But, oh how wrong she was. They were hers, and Dino’s. Her children. And eventually she’d have to move on to that realization, but… let’s not spoil her innocent hope of finding peace in what happened – not yet anyways. I will help you, and I will never tell. I give you my word. With that, Kal let out a relieved breath she was not aware she’d been holding, as she shook out her semi-thick, smooth coat, “Thank you…” she said, her tone less pathetic, finding the comfort she needed in those words. As for possible puppies, I will help you with that, too. I love to care for pups, and will help you with whatever you need.
She loved to care for pups? If it wasn’t against Kal’s morals, she’d just say ‘okay, the pups are yours’ when they were born. But, not even Kal, who had the philosophy imprinted in her tiara that having a family was always bad news, would give up a litter of pups. Not even Kal… “You ain’t got no clue, how grateful I am, Taboo…” She said in gentle, southern tones. Kal watched in calm exhaustion, as Taboo moved and tugged some blankets into a small, suitable nest, next to Kaliska’s larger one, built large for the sense of protection and sanctuary it could offer. Taboo yawned, and smiled at Kal, in which Kal smiled back, before Kal turned her head to watch the sun lower itself towards the horizon, sending reds, purples, and oranges across the sky, darkening the world. Kal lowered her muzzle to the blankets, and shifted to grab a few with her teeth and drag them haphazardly over her – lacking the long, heat keeping fur that Taboo had. I will be here for you. Taboo nodded, as Kal glanced at her, and smiled despite the fear she still held in her small form, her position relaxing, “I trust you…” Maybe staying away from pack had been a bad idea after all… Here, it looks like, she might have actually found a real… friend.

“You ain’t got no clue, how grateful I am, Taboo…” The big husky ruffled her fur as she saw the beautiful coyotes expression turn from panic and terror to hope. "It's no problem, Kal. I would never leave somebody who needed help." She yawned, and heard her quietly say "I trust you..." [/i] Taboo turned back toward the exhausted coyote. She saw her relax slightly and yawned. The long drawn out days of sumer changed to dark night within hours, and she blinked her eyes in the night. If one had looked at her bright eyes, they would have appeared dark blue, like the deepest ocean. She laid her round head on her paws and drifted into a restful sleep. ---------- Taboo slowly woke as the sun rose over the horizon, its rays shining into the broken window and into her eyes. Her ears perked up as she suddenly remembered where she was. She looked softly at the snoozing coyote, and stood and stretched in a silent yawn. She didn't want to wake Kaliska, she needed her sleep. She padded across the room to look out the window. No signs of canines passing in the night, only stale scents from before she even had been there. Her throat was parched and she accidentally swept up some dust, causing a coughing and sneezing fit. Her head shot up, and she saw Kal stirring in her bed. Darn it! She thought, silently scolding herself for waking the coyote. She stepped toward Kal, hoping in vain that she hadn't really woken her.[/blockquote][/size]

It’s no problem, Kal. I would never leave somebody who needed help. Kal smiled, despite her odd situation, lowering her muzzle as she yawned, watching the sun paint colors into the blue sky, before the colors fading, drawing the bright blue color with them. Night was coming, and as she closed her eyes, she let herself fall into a peaceful sleep- over the likes she hadn’t seen in a while. Of course, she wasn’t prepared for the dream…
Momma, momma? Wake up! A tiny tongue licked across her face, causing Kal to flinch, as she blinked her eyes and looked up into a similar façade of her own – only with a german shepherd mask, the little boy glaring defiantly, Momma! I want to play! You promised! You said, ‘If you wait till the morning, we’ll go out.’ Look! It’s morning! He jerked his head, as his tail wagged feriously behind him, his eyes locking onto the sun which was only a sliver over the horizon… Kal blinked, staring at the pup… Momma? Is that what he’d called her. She froze when another ball of hyper energy landed on her back, Momma, tell him no! I wanna relax. Please? It’s to early to explore… Let’s stay here, and sleep in. Momma? Kal turned her eyes towards the little girl on her back, and down to another little boy who had his paws on her side, nodding along with the little girl. Momma… This had to be a dream… It had to be. This can’t be real. It shouldn’t ever be real. Momma? Are you alright? Momma? Momma you look sick. Momma! The dream was fading growing darker, till nothing existed but a black plane, and Kal. Kal looked around, before taking a step, only to crash into the side of a tree, with rough claw marks carved into the side. Her eyes widened, as she looked around, and saw the tipi circle of stones, the ones Indians would have used, then a small doll. She approached carefully, touching the doll with her nose, and recoiling when it moved. What on earth. Then she heard laughter, and turned to see a small Indian girl running out of the trees, a little coyote following her. A familiar coyote. Kaida? Kal watched as the small coyote ran around the Indian, before they too faded away. She had to be dreaming. None of this was real. None of it.
-------------------------- -
A sneeze entered her dream plane, causing Kal to stir slightly, shifting as she rolled onto her side. She heard the sounds of paws walking towards her, and her body froze, tensing up, before she recognized Taboo’s scent, and blinked her eyes open, slowly sitting up, and looking at Taboo through blurry eyes, “Morning.” She commented, as she slowly rose before shaking off the dust that had collected on her coat from sleeping in the dusty place, with the ratted blankets. She glanced at Taboo before yawning slightly, and stretching.

Taboo sighed as her suspicions were confirmed. She had woken the exhausted coyote. "Morning." [/b] Taboo heard Kaliska say. "Good morning to you, too, Kal." She said brightly. "How did you sleep?" She padded up to Kal, who was stretching, and licked her kindly on the ear, smiling. She planted her rump on the dusty ground. Her tail swept the area around her, revealing the actual floor. She sneezed again from the dirt in the air. Looking around, she breathed in the scent. "I don't like this place. It smells like death." She looked outside. The sun had already lit up the whole world in bright yellow light, turning her eyes almost green. She wanted to go outside, where the world smelled of life and prey, instead of dust and disease. The trees were swaying in a slight breeze, and the birds flew haphazardly through the sky, but none where coming to the hospital. She looked longingly toward the cracked open door that she had entered through, and looked at her new friend again. "I am really thirsty and hungry anyways. You wan to leave this place?"[/blockquote][/size]

How did you sleep. Kal shrugged, as the dog licked her ear, in a kind manner, before sitting in the dust, tail sweeping the dusty ground, picking the dust up and sending it into the air. Kal wrinkled her nose, sneezing slightly, before responding, “Well enough, and you?” She voiced, sending the question back to Taboo.
Taboo’s next comment had the coyote nodding in agreement, it did smell like death in the place, though it was a scent that Kal recognized. Her mind went back to her dream, before she shook the thought free, and smiled slightly at Taboo, “It is definitely not a place I’d like to spend more time then necessary in.” She agreed. As she stood up, watching as Taboo gaze towards the open door. Kal grinned at Taboo’s next words, nodding, “I’m rather hungry, and thirsty as well. But then again; I’d starve for a week, just to get out of this place. Shall we go?” The coyote asked, as she jumped from the pile of blankets, and trotted towards the door, her body stalling, when she got to the door, and turning towards Taboo, waiting on her, now. She could already feel a faint breeze from the outside air, and mixing that with the sunshine streaming through the broken window? It very much made the young coyote want to go outside.
She turned back towards the door, knocking it open with her shoulder, before bounding to the stairwell, and jumping down the stairs, two, sometimes three at a time. Skidding to a halt at the landing below, she turned to wait for Taboo, before continuing through the hall, and out into the morning, finally getting a breath of fresh air. She smiled, shaking her coat out slightly, the smell of the Embalm King was finally replaced with the linger scent of death from sleeping in the hospital… She grinned at Taboo, wrinkling her nose, “We stink… We smell like death, Taboo…” The coyote said, in an amused tone, as she rolled her eyes at the fact, before looking around the sun lit area, wondering if they should get something to eat, or go find water first.
Though, if Kaliska had her way. She’d take a bath before anything else, I really do stink. she thought, once more, wrinkling her nose. Really bad…

Taboo bounded down the stairs of the old hospital, hot on Kaliskas tail. She burst out the door, breathing in the fresh air, and laughing when Kal commented on how they stunk with a wrinkled nose. "Yuck!" she exclaimed. "We really do smell like that place!" With that, she sat down to clean herself, attempting to wash the scent of death and disease away from her coat. Usually, she wasn't one to obsess about appearance and smell and such, but she couldn't stand that stench any longer. Her tongue rasped all over her pelt and she stood to shake off. "There," She sighed. "That's a little better." She shook her fur again, wishing that it was all the way gone, but the only way to fully get rid of a smell like that was to get away from the place. Her throat was dry and she signaled Kal to follow her, padding off toward a small pond that she knew of. She was more thirsty than hungry, and when they arrived, she gulped down the quenching and cool water ravenously. When she was finished, she looked at Kal, laughing, and jumped into the pond. She love to swim, and her paws propelled her around the small body of water like she was an aquatic animal. She splashed Kal with the refreshing water, and shouted "Come on in, Kal! What are you afraid or something?" ooc::Should Taboo and Kal go to the meeting together?

She grinned as Taboo laughed at her comment on their smell, before the other female agreed with a Yuck! and a We really do smell like that place!! Following Taboo’s example, Kal’s tongue ran over her coat, coating the thick, soft hairs in saliva as she attempted to remove from herself, flinched as she felt the lingering taste of the scent on her tongue, which only heightened her sense of smell of the scent. Finally she deemed the smell almost gone, and glanced at Taboo, secretly glad – at that moment- that she didn’t have all the fur that Taboo did. There, that’s a little better. Kal laughed, shaking her head with a ‘eww’ look, “Maybe, but it’ll take days to wash this taste out of meh mouth!” She said, grinning at Taboo. “Next time I decide to go hidin’ in there, try talkin’ meh into a better place to spend some time in, like a cave of a mother bear.” She rolled her shoulders back slightly, tilting her head as she followed Taboo to a small pond and for a moment Kal stared at it, before she lapped at the water. Until she felt a wave of water splash into her. Kal yelped in surprise, stumbling backwards, to see Taboo playing in the water. Come on in, Kal! What are you afraid or something? Kal raised an eyebrow before she said calmly, “Kaliska fears nothin’. Fear fears Kaliska!” She managed to get her words out before she started laughing, then jumped into the water, tackling Taboo and nipping her playfully, “Ya know, this is feelin’ realleh good… And, we smell better, yet!” She declared, laughing again.
