Scarlet lay there, in the nursery. Thinking about pups, of course she hoped she would have them. There was a storm raging right now and Blackhawk had gone to get food. This left her alone, restlessly she rolled around. Wanting to find something to do.
Soon she found a moss ball and started rolling it around, completely focusing on it. Now she must have looked like a pup, so bored that it was playing with moss. Soon she grew bored again as she paced back and forth. Wondering what she could do now, all she smelt was the sweet rosemary flower scent in the den.
Finding a mouse she stepped on it's tail and watched it try to scurry away, a failed attempt of course. Now she sat there staring at the trapped creature, finally she let it go. Watching it run into a hole in the wall, Scarlet layed down again. Wanting to get out of the den, but knowing it was too dangerous if she was expecting pups. So she just stared at the entrance and waited for Blackhawk to come back. Maybe even a friend to visit her.

as blackhawk wandered about in the rain, loving how calming it felt against his soaked fur and the sound of it drowning out his thoughts, he searched the few shelters for any signs of life. with the rain falling, hunting was hard. all the prey and sought shelter and were hidden from sight. the rain also washed away their tracks and their scent, making it even harder to find. but it also help in a sense that they did not move around, if you checked a spot, odds are if you checked it again, it would still be empty.
after and hour or so of searching, blackhawk finally spotted some deer tracks that were saved from the rain by a tree, and started to head off in the direction of them. off in the distance was a large tree and he sensed that the deer was probably hidden underneath it. as his large size might seem to make it almost impossible to sneak up on prey, the grass and ferns were tall and helped to hide him a little. slowly, he stalked closer to the tree; watching every step he took so he wouldn't make a sound.
as the base of the tree started to come into few, blackhawk was able to see multiple deer hudled under the tree with a large buck standing watch. he had reached the end of the ferns, if he continued on they were sure to see him. he waited until the moment at which the buck has just scanned over him then leaped out of the ferns. it didn't take long for the buck to finally realize was what going on, and to scatter the herd, but ,by that time, blackhawk's large gait had closed half the distance and the buck was slow to start in the wet grass. as he started to close in on the buck slow but then it reached its max speed and started to pull away. it seemed as if all was lost until the buck slipped in some mud and slowed enough for blackhawk to leap; teeth gripping the buck's neck and throwing it to the ground with him on top of it. has they landed, blackhawk bit the buck's neck to end its pain then stood up to lick his wounded shoulder from where the horn had stabbed him in his leap. as thunder stuck overhead, blackhawk stood up and started to drag the deer home. breaking off the antlers on a nearby tree so they wouldn't get stuck in the dirt. the den was quite far off and the buck was rather large so the drag seemed to talk even longer but the rain never seemed to let up and so the scent of blood, though powerful to blackhawk, did not reach the noses of potential enemies. as the den was finally in sight, blackhawk sped up as much as he could, eager to see his mate and to bring her her food. he left the deer outside the den and looked inside to make sure she was OK "hello my scarlet, i was able to find a deer for you. sorry it took so long" he said as he started to drag it into the den, barely able to fit it into the enlarged entrance.
