Death and destruction lay all around Willow. Testaments to the lives that had been lived out here echoed in the dead trees above her and the ashes that she padded through. It seemed fitting for her to be in such a place. Willow had wandered here to perhaps find new beginnings. She had hoped for them all her life. Though it was hard to be so positive with the sick and ailing canines all around her. But for some reason, these dogs were more accepting than any other she had ever come across. They had welcomed her with more than open arms even though those welcomes came with warnings that she should at least keep a distance. But willow was not worried. She had been around other dogs that had the virus and she had survived. She could almost swear that she had an immunity.
Golden coat caught glimpses of the sunlight that strew down through the dead branches of Darkwood. There was almost no sound here, something that Willow was unused to. She couldn't even hear her own footfalls. If there was another dog coming from upwind, there would be no way that Willow would ever know that they were on their way.

"Dont be scared i've done this before"
The daytime was different. Different then the night that is. Tegan was more used to the night, and the quiet summer breeze through the moon lit trees. But, it was daytime, so she felt different. Kind of happy in a way. Which was abnormal for Tegan. The hardly ever happy Aussie barley smiles anymore. Since the death of her mother. Or was it her brother? She forgot the last time she smiled. But she tried one on, pointing her head toward the sky, where slivers of warm light slipped through the thick trees and heated her muzzle. She sighed in delight. What a mood this was. She walked through the darkwood forest. Not another soul in sight. She was alone. She stopped in her stride. Alone... The forest became a bit more gloomy. She liked alone. But not in this mood. That said mood suddenly vanished. And she sighed again, but not with delight. With her head held a bit lower, she continued to walk. Bored, she lost her self in her thoughts. Thoughts of past, thoughts of present, and her new pack of sick mutts, and of future, and what it might bring. She was so deep in thought, she did not notice the other dog a few meters away from her. She stopped, scuffling the sticks beneath her. "ohh. Sorry. I didn't see you there." Tegan said with surprise still in her voice, how did she not see the golden coated stranger? Tegan wasn't in the mood to deal with others at the moment, so she made no fuss while apologizing.

Willow jumped high in the air, all four paws off the ground. The voice behind her had startled her beyond anything she had been started by recently. She swirled around to face the newcomer. A pretty coated Aussie looked back at her and Willow couldn't really do anything but stare. When she could finally gather herself she managed to stammer a response.
"It's..uh..it's okay. Um, I'm Willow. You are?"
|
she inquired of the other female. There was something that made her want to relax but her survival instincts told her to keep her defenses up and to be wary of this dog. Lord only knows it could be another one that wished her harm. But something about the Aussie's demeanor relaxed her at the same time. A seriously confusing reaction for the Golden. Paws shifted uneasily beneath her and she scanned quickly for other dogs. The females seemed to be alone and at least that factor made Willow less tense. Tegan's ears perked up as she realized she had startled the poor girl to death. She had full on jumped a foot in the air. All Tegan could do was stare at this stranger, wait for her reply. And when the pretty golden retriever finally spoke, it broke the silence and any tension Tegan had to wards her. You could tell a lot by how another speaks, and Tegan could tell, this girl was no threat to her. Not right now at least. "I'm Tegan." she replied. "Sorry to scare you like that." She flashed a smile at the stranger. Willow didn't look infected like some of the other Vexis dogs. But you never know. She had some scars, and looked kind of worn down from stress. Her eyes held a loss of sparkle. Tegan wondered what happened to the sparkle. Her mind side tracked her again, and she found herself staring. She looked down at her shuffling paws. "ohh.... umm.." she was at a loss for words. How long had it been since Tegan had had an actual conversation? To long she thought. "Nice weather huh?" smooth, real smooth. And she was supposed to be good at this. She shook out her coat, and tried to clear her mid, so she could speak to this girl without stammering like a pup. She raised her head, and looked at willow. hopefully she knew what to say.

The Golden couldn't help but giggle. This Tegan girl seemed as nervous as she was. Her response began the smile across a long barren face. "Yea, it is kind of nice out, huh?"
|
Willow responded, daring to take a step closer. "And it's fine. I startle a little easily. Curiosity filled the dog about where this dog had come from. She seemed as scared as Willow herself. There was no doubt that Tegan had seen hard times just as she had. There was something unspoken about it, like a ghost that haunts the mind and soul. Yea, Willow knew it well, and it was currently her master and commander. Scars ran rampant in her mind and body. There was no escaping it. She knew that they were visible and Willow made no attempt to hide it. If she was going to make some kind of relationship, any kind of relationship at all with anyone, particularly Tegan, it was best to let it out in the open and let people ask their own questions. So uh...what brings you here? Not many people pass through these lands." Mood:: Good Words:: 186 Other:: This could be interesting Lyrics: Float - Flogging Molly [/sub][/blockquote]

A breeze lifted Tegans fur. She took a second to compose herself. Clear her scattered head. Willow commented on the weather. The said I she startled easy. So did Tegan sometimes. But most of the time she saw it coming. Her light blue eyes scanned the area around them, before turning back the the eyes of the pretty golden, who had taken a step closer. "In search of clarity, or peace and quiet. Whichever comes first. I like it out here, no life, so no one to be a bother." Tegan replied sweetly. Tegan was really in search of the better light. you know, the greener grass on the other side. She had it set in her hear that it was not there, but she worked hard to prove herself wrong. "What about you? Alone out here? Thats a bit risky don't you thing?" Tegan was getting her charm back. The nervousness had almost disappeared. Her voice was smooth and sweet. Her head tilted to the right a little, and her ears perked. "Don't you have a mate or family to protect you" Tegan knew not every dog out there had a family. But the healthy strong ones usually got lucky. Sure Tegan was healthy and strong enough to get by, but she was far to scared on the inside to trust just anyone. {*Listens to tegan and sara*}

Tegan spoke of a peace and quiet that Willow had never know and almost didn't know what to make of the thought. She had been abused, batter and taken advantage of for so long that she didn't know anything else but running. And singing...singing was her only way to take away the pain and suffering.
"I came out here to sing...I don't normally sing in front of other people..."
|
Willow said softly as if embarrassed. A shy smile touched her canine lips. She was beginning to see the nervousness seep away from Tegan too. Something about the Aussie calmed her and made her feel safe. "And no...I don't have a family, or a mate...Most people judge me before they really know me. They never give me a chance. And the mate thing...that's a different story entirely...put the easiest way, I just haven't found the right one." Willow said, telling her story in the shortest way possible. "What about you? Don't you have somewhere to belong? Someone to miss you? Unless you're running from something, like me. Then again, I guess we're all running from something really" Mood:: Sweet Words:: 186 Other:: Shes very special to me. The retriever's voice soothed Tegan. There was rhythm in it, and when she spoke of singing, Tegan perked her ears. She loved to listen to sweet sweet music. It completed her. Her ears sank back down as Willow said she didn't sing in front of others. To bad. The small shy smile that spread across Willow's lips gave Tegan butterflies. A small feeling of flutters deep in her stomach. She found herself smiling to. Tegan nodded her head as Willow spoke of "not finding the right one" Tegan knew how that was. It would be hard enough with how picky she was, but put being lesbian on top of that, and bam, you have one mate-less dog. "Belong, not so much. Missed, not at all. Running from myself sounds more like it." She rolled her blue eyes, and shrugged. She thought about going, but something held her there. Was it the pretty golden coated retriever? Well obviously, but Tegan had no chance with her. She sighed. " i was just passing, so don't let me interrupt your singing" she smiled, giving Willow the choice of letting her stay or go.

Tegan made a move to leave and Willow was suddenly very aware of hoe badly she wanted Tegan to stay, but at the same time a little bit of her was hurt, and she didn't quite understand why she wanted to go. "If you want to go...I won't stop you...but I wish you'd stay...
|
Willow said quietly, hardly above a whisper with her head bowed. There was no part of her that expected Tegan to stay, even with her plea. She was so used to people just walking away. Slowly and quietly, she began to sing a soft melody that she had once heard someone else sing to her. She let the words roll off her tongue and she closed her eyes. Willow sang because her heart felt again. She sang stronger and stronger, with near abandon. For once, she sang like no one could hear her except the person that mattered to her. Calm and joy filled the retriever. Nothing else mattered and it was at that moment that Willow knew she was whole once more. This next song is about a young lady called Laura Who unfortunatley isn't with us anymore But she's still called Laura ...Here we go...
Feel the words from my lips To your hearts finger tip Then you know where I come from Cause I know, yes I know Everything there is to know Cause I lost everything I had See, I Could have danced on the sun But my world came undone
Laura!!!
There's no need for tears Cause there's no need to cry The love that you leave Will never be denied This pain in my head escaped from my heart No woman alive, Can touch who you were So bye bye, Laura Cause no one could take your place Bye bye, Laura Your beauty will never fade They say that your soul Will reach for the sky. This love that you leave, Will never be denied And after this song, her spirit lives on Though your not around you'll never be gone Mood:: Peaceful Words:: 177 Other:: Shes very special to me. Emotions were not something Tegan was used to. The plain blank feeling of depression was all she had known. So when something else stirred in her, she turned to listen to what Willow was whispering. to stay... no one had ever asked Tegan to stay anywhere. There was almost no effort in the plead for her to stay, as if Willow had expected Tegan to refuse. Tegan couldn't refuse. Before she could say anything, a soft melody reached her ears. It grew. from the shy girls whisper, to the strong voice filled with heart and soul. Tegan finally realized that her mouth was hanging open, she closed it and shook her head. Her blue gaze hung on Willow, as words danced from her mouth. When the song ended. The last words faded slowly into nothing. "beautiful...." Tegan shook her head again. "That was amazing." she stood there, tail wagging, staring in awe at the retriever. She had never met someone so beautifully unique.

Willow could feel a blush forming under her fur. Never before had she sang for someone, never. And she never expected anyone to ever like her singing. she had kept it bottled inside for so long that she had almost forgotten the release that it provided. Song was in her blood and more importantly, her heart.
"Thank you."
|
she managed to say without stammering like a small pup. "I'm not sure what came over me, but I'm glad you liked it." Willow said honestly. She looked at Tegan like she was seeing her for the first time; and perhaps she was. Brown eyes met blue and Willow could nearly feel the emotion Tegan was feeling. Something had woken up inside of Willow that she had shoved away long ago in order to protect it. Taking a leap of faith, Willow asked sweetly "If you're not busy, would you like to take a walk...?" Here's to hoping that someone would catch her. Tegan was still a bit in awe as Willow thanked her for the compliments. She could tell that Willow was not used to sharing her beautiful voice with others. And she felt very special to have been the one to hear it. Willows eyes. That was it. Tegan was lost. In those bigg brown eyes. She couldn't get out of there gaze, and she found, she didn't want to. She wanted to stay lost within them. That would be nice. A lifetime lost in gorgeous brown eyes. Tegans ears shot up when Willow broke the silence. Her sweet voice filled Tegans head. She smiled. "I would love to." she replied with a smile. wow. What happened to Tegan, the badass tom boy? Poof, flushed away by a shiny golden coat, big brown eyes, and the voice of an angel. Had she made a friend? Or maybe more? oh no, she cant fall for a friend and loose them again. Tegan was a strong girl, but there was only so much abandonment she could handle. She looked at Willow and steeped towards her so they could walk, side by side. She brushed up against her a little. Butterflies flew through her stomach again. She looked at Willow, her head rose "where shall we go?"she asked

Willow felt as if someone had reached inside of her and touched her. she felt light, weightless as she felt Tegan brushed up against her. She was stunned, silenced for a moment as she tried to sort out what to do. Was the touch intentional? Or was is it just a coincidence where her beautiful, brown and white coat had touched her own, golden one? She wasn't sure what to do for a moment but she decided quickly.
With a quick motion, Willow swayed her hips and brushed right back. The outward boldness was uncommon for Willow and she rather liked the change. Depending on where this went, she might just keep it up.
As she started walking, she heard Tegan's sweet voice inquire of her as to where they were going. "I'm not sure where we're going really. I guess if we just decide to go somewhere along the way, we will."

Tegan took a breath in, and she could smell the summer air. She could almost taste summer. It tasted nice. She could smell Willow too, beside her now. Giving her the answer to her question. Willow didn't care where they went. And neither did Tegan. Going somewhere was the last thing on her mind. She smiled back at willow. "Sounds like a plan."Going nowhere did sound like a good plan. With Willow, that is. Cause everyone knows you cant go nowhere by yourself. Tegans footfalls were quiet, and her tail sway back and forth slowly. She looked over at Willow. "So whats your story? Whats a pretty girl like yourself doing in Vexis? If you don't mind me asking." Tegan was always so curious. She blushed a little. She looked forward. Trees. Burnt stuff. Dead trees. Splotches of sun. She looked back at Willow. Thats better. Seeing her felt... right somehow. She had to tear her gaze away to watch where she was going. She had only just dodged a dead burnt tree.

As they trotted along, Willow started to wonder where they were headed. She knew that there were not very many hospitable places in this area. The Vexis lands were dry, barren and hardly a place to get lost in. She knew that she had to keep her wits about her, but she found it hard. There was someone who just kept distracting her. She wagged her long haired tail and lolled her tongue. It was as if she didn't have a care in the world anymore.
"I could almost ask you the same question."
|
Willow replied. There was some part of her that wanted to hold that back from Tegan, like she wouldn't understand. But there was also some part that told her to trust Tegan. She knew she was safe with her and that she could trust her. "It's really a bit of a long story...but if you promise to tell me yours, I'll tell you mine. Promise?" she asked. She felt if Tegan trusted her enough to tell her, her story, she knew she could trust her. That and she was curious too as to where the Aussie came from. She was curious about a lot of things actually.... Mood:: D'awwwwww Words:: 201 Other:: rawr Lyrics: Float - Flogging Molly [/sub][/blockquote]
